I develop, meditate
Last name Cohn, First name Jake
Continue like this at this rate?
I envision competition to annihilate
Waves of brave enter my brainwave
Go beast mode: primal man in the cave
Got an epic beard, I'm a man, I don't shave
Eyes red, always in a haze
Year book quote was just blaze!
But never raised attention
Slit a few throats for the mention
Bars travel through time & dimensions
Talk a little shit with these lessons
Blessed in the best in how I blend in
Pin point accurate, call me Carson
The vote's in kid, we all wanna sin
We all wanna sin...
I don't spit unless I go in
Sometimes I'll hear a beat from another artist and feel compelled to write for that particular beat/song. In this case, I used "Bath Salt" by ASAP Mob. It's such an epic song, I love those guys.
I write a lot about love, life, the universe, and sometimes a lot of it can be sad. But at the same time, when I rap, I wanna invoke my confidence in my writing. I do believe in what I'm writing, and so I love talking a little smack in them.
I do actually meditate on a daily basis, and I'll be writing a blog post about that to expand on its benefits its had on my life. So in many ways this little excerpt here is a testament to entering that zen mode of channeling that energy and writing what comes to mind. I remember writing some of this in Arizona a couple of years ago. I was really excited about it because it was a different style and tone of how I'd deliver the rhymes.
Some of the above references include some NFL players: Marshawn Lynch and Carson Palmer. I'm a big Beast Mode fan, how can you not be?
For Carson, he was a hell of a QB, who had some poor luck in his career with the Bengals. He really was an incredible player. But the reason why I gave him a shout out in particular was because I had the opportunity to actually catch a few passes from him at a charity flag football tournament out in Arizona. I'm lucky enough to be able to say I've met some NFL stars, and they all seem like good dudes (mostly) .
Obviously the "eyes red" line refers to smoking weed. I love marijuana. It's something I've had for the entirety of my twenties. I've had great experiences and bad experiences with it, but at the end of the day, it's something I do for relaxation, creativity, and sometimes in conjunction with my meditations.
